- What is this for?
- Mock-ups, tutorials, design comps and slide decks where you need a realistic-looking post without embedding someone's real one. It renders locally and posts nothing anywhere.
- Can I use it to make a real person appear to say something?
- No. Attaching a real name or handle to words they did not write is fabrication, and in many jurisdictions defamatory — the fact that it is a mock-up is no defence once the image is shared without that context.
- How do I use a mock-up responsibly?
- Use obviously fictional handles, or clearly label the image as a mock-up wherever it appears. A screenshot travels detached from its caption, so the labelling needs to survive inside the image itself.
- Does the image leave my browser?
- No — it is composed and rendered on the page, so nothing is uploaded and no account is involved. That is also why it cannot fetch a real avatar for a handle you type.
- Why does the layout not match the live site exactly?
- Because the real interface changes frequently and varies by platform, theme and locale. This produces a close approximation, which is what a mock-up needs — not a pixel-exact forgery.
- Can I embed a real post instead?
- For quoting something genuine, yes, and you should — the platform's own embed keeps attribution, links to the source and disappears if the post is deleted. A screenshot preserves none of that.

- Presenting a mockup as a real post, which is fabricating a record and can be defamatory.
- Using a real person's name, handle and photo, which is impersonation rather than illustration.
- Omitting any indication that the image is a mockup when it is shared onward.
